Amid calls to resign, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau steps down, says ‘will stay until next successor’ - While addressing a press briefing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on January 06 that he would be stepping down as Prime Minister and as Liberal Leader until the next successor is found. He further informed that he has asked the President to prorogue Parliament. Trudeau became Liberal leader in 2013 and prime minister in the fall of 2015, announcing his long-awaited decision outside his official residence.
