Iran’s FM Araghchi dials EAM Jaishankar as tension mounts in Middle East, discuss current situation - EAM S Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi amid escalating tensions in West Asia on April 29. In a post on X, Jaishankar said he received a call from the Iranian Foreign Minister during the afternoon. EAM further mentioned that the duo discussed various aspects of the current situation and agreed to remain in close touch. The development comes hours later after India called out blockade of commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Ambassador Yojna Patel, Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the UN highlighted India’s ‘firm stance’. The comments come as the Middle East continues to boil after two attempts at a Pak backed ceasefire failed miserably.
