Gujarat gets its first indigenous “Make in India” metro train, boosting urban transport - Ahmedabad has received its first indigenously built “Make in India” metro train, marking a significant milestone for Gujarat’s urban transport. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel launched the metro coaches during his visit to the advanced Titagarh Rail Systems plant near Kolkata, calling it a proud moment under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Manufactured with modern technology, the ultra-modern train features best-in-class fire safety and security systems and is capable of fully automated, driverless operations under Grade of Automation 4 (GOA4). Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited has ordered 10 such trains to meet rising passenger demand as Phase-2 of the Ahmedabad Metro expands. Serving over 1.6 lakh commuters daily with rapid growth, the metro network will benefit from these stainless-steel trains, designed with colours and motifs reflecting Ahmedabad’s culture.
