Ukraine’s soldiers guard Kharkiv skies against Russian drones as tension escalates amid peace talks - On the eve of peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow, a Ukrainian air defence unit tasked with guarding the skies in eastern Kharkiv region shot at Russian drones as both sides of the conflict ramped up airborne attacks. A sergeant in the unit said he and his comrades target all types of drones, and occasionally even cruise missiles, in Kharkiv region where air raid alerts sound several times a day. On Sunday (June 1), the unit used anti-aircraft guns and smaller machine guns to shoot down two Shahed drones, one of the soldiers said. Two children had been injured in a Russian drone attack on Kharkiv region, Oleh Sinehubov, the governor of the region, said on Monday (June 2) on Telegram. In an attack the previous night, Russia launched 472 drones at Ukraine, Ukraine's air force said on Sunday, the highest nightly total of the war so far. Ukraine, meanwhile, attacked Russian nuclear-capable long-range bombers at a military base deep in Siberia, a Ukrainian intelligence official said, the first such attack so far from the front lines more than 4,300 km (2,670 miles) away. In Kharkiv, soldiers in the air defence unit praised the attack, saying the operation had lifted their spirits. #Russia #Ukraine #DroneAttack #War Join ANI's YouTube membership to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtFQDgA8J8_iiwc5-KoAQlg/join Subscribe now and press the bell icon 🔔 to get new video updates: https://bit.ly/2UV4ygi -------------------------------------- ANI is South Asia's leading Multimedia News Agency providing content for every information platform, including TV, Internet, broadband, newspapers, and mobiles.
