Wall Street opens sharply lower after global stocks hit the low amid Trump’s tariff turmoil - The global stocks meltdown continued at Wall Street's open on Monday as U.S. President Donald Trump showed no sign of backing away from his sweeping tariff plans, and investors bet the mounting risk of recession could see the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates as early as May. The S&P 500 opened down more than 3% extending last week's selloff and poised to confirm it was in a bear market should it close 20% down from February's record high. At 09:31 a.m. the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1,212.98 points, or 3.17%, to 37,101.88, the S&P 500 lost 181.37 points, or 3.57%, to 4,892.71, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 623.23 points, or 4.00%, to 14,964.56. Trillions of dollars have been vaporized from equity values around the world after U.S. President Donald Trump's administration announced outsized tariffs on almost all trading partners. #NewYork #USAMarket #NASDAQ #NYSE #DonaldTrump #WallStreet Join ANI's YouTube membership to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtFQDgA8J8_iiwc5-KoAQlg/join Subscribe now and press the bell icon 🔔 to get new video updates: https://bit.ly/2UV4ygi -------------------------------------- ANI is South Asia's leading Multimedia News Agency providing content for every information platform, including TV, Internet, broadband, newspapers, and mobiles.
