‘Good for her’: French left-wing demonstrators insist Le Pen conviction justified - Left-wing groups rallied in Paris on April 6 to denounce the far right and celebrate Marine Le Pen’s disqualification from the 2027 presidential race. Le Pen was convicted on March 31 of misappropriating EU funds to pay party officials, receiving a four-year sentence (two suspended), home detention, and a €100,000 fine. The conviction includes a five-year ban on running for office, effectively blocking her from running in the next presidential election.
