Assembly Elections: First phase polling concludes peacefully in J&K - The voter turnout in the first phase of voting for Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections was recorded at 26.72 per cent as of 11 am on September 18, according to the Election Commission. Voting commenced at 7 am across the Union Territory and concluded at 6 pm. All major polling stations witnessed long queues of voters since morning. In the first phase, 24 assembly constituencies across the Union Territory voted today; that includes 16 seats in the Kashmir region and 8 seats in the Jammu region. Voting for the second and third phases in J-K will be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively.
