“Honoured to be back…” Gautam Gambhir returns to Indian cricket team as head coach of ‘men in blue’ - Making a return to the Indian cricket team, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the new head coach of the ‘men in blue’. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on July 09 announced the appointment of the former cricketer as the new head coach of the Indian team. Taking to ‘X’, he expressed full faith in the ICC T20 WC 2007 and WC 2011 finals star Gambhir for steering the Indian team forward. Shortly after the appointment, Gambhir took to ‘X’ to express gratitude and state his goals under a different hat. This comes after Rahul Dravid’s contract as India’s head coach ended with the victory of ‘Men in Blue’ in the T20 WC 2024. Gambhir was the left-handed opener for the Indian team and served as KKR’s team mentor in IPL 2024 guiding the team to its 3rd IPL trophy. Notably, he has been the star player in the finals of both, ICC T20 WC 2007 and ICC WC 2011 leading India to historic victories.
